Basement Car Park

Case Description

The principal contractor had refurbished the vertical surfaces to an extremely high standard and needed to treat the horizontal surfaces to a similar standard. The client had specific colour references that the floor finishes required to meet to fit with the décor scheme.

Case Results

The client now has a parking area decorated to an extremely high standard, well lit, secure and equipped with storage for several different modes of transport to serve todays needs. The client had specific colour references that the floor finishes needed to meet to fit with the décor scheme. Also, due to the inclined surfaces and the likelihood of surface water, good slip resistance is required to be maintained across the whole surface area.

Bristow Helicopters

Case Description

Bristow Helicopters operate search and rescue operations for HM Coastguard, at the Solent Airport they have a seperate section they manage which has a large hardstanding area in front of the main hanger.

Case Results

As part of safety review, it was clear there was a risk of aircraft collision with the main hanger with no advisory demarcation on the ground to show a boundary line for ‘live’ helicopters not to travel.

The client requested a clear double line in front of all the buildings, which has different surface types.

Working with our approved contractor, a primer coat was applied followed by a double yellow line which was applied with contrast colour of black using Graco Linelazer Airless technology.

Builders Merchants

Case Description

A recent project completed involved multiple services to minimise the risks of vehicle use inside a builder’s merchant.

Case Results

Initially line marking was installed to form a safe route for vehicles to go around a warehouse. It became clear that there was a lot more safety required to protect pedestrians and assets against vehicle movement.

Separating people and assets from vehicles using barriers is very cost effective and using the impact resistant d-flexx range of products if offers excellent long-term investment and reduces vehicle damage for small impacts.

Using our network of approved installers, we were able to complete this project on time and in budget before the grand opening of the new depot.

Tesla Bluewater EV Charging Bays

Case Description

Bluewater wanted to install several Tesla charging points for electric cars in their car park. The markings for these areas needed to be clear and easy to read, so to not cause confusion between normal spaces and charging points.

Case Results

After the removal of the old markings, Meon’s ScratchCote was applied to even out the surface for a smooth paint application. UltraGrip was then applied in a contrasting black and bright red to ensure customers know which bays are for parking compared to charging.

The bays were installed to match Tesla’s high level of quality. Long lasting, anti-slip, and bright surface markings are now in place, ensuring safe and attractive results.

Building Material Supplier

Case Description

A heavily used merchants yard based in Reading required markings that would require high versatility and heavy traffic use, this included high level of MHE movement.

Being a highly used site it was important that the site was closed for a minimum amount of time. It was also important that the paint maximum service life to reduce the disruption caused by contractors on site constantly driving over the markings

Case Results

A key element to the markings was colours of paint and the ease of adhesion to a concrete surface as this would be easier to lay. The clarity of the lines would also make things easier for visitors and increase the levels of health and safety.

After careful consideration and many meetings with the yard owners, MMA was a clear choice and Spectrum UltraStripe was selected. The key benefits of MMA were a perfect for the job at hand as it is fast to lay reducing disruption, quick to cure, gives crisp lines and is extremely durable. A clear sealer was also added to the marking making it more dirt resilient and easier to clean off, making the marking easier to maintain.

The variety of colours available also made a clear demarcation on the site, clearly displaying delive.

A result of this the client has been provided with safer sites, which provide a more enjoyable customer experience. Since the installation of the UltraStripe, site feedback has reported that they have more effective freight movements, staffs are using stock lines and safe layouts have increased health and safety on site. The client is now looking to roll this system out on several more sites around the UK.

Portsmouth Council, Lakeside Office Park

Case Description

Lakeside Office Park was acquired by Portsmouth City Council in August 2019. The asset was originally developed in 1976 and the carparking and roadway areas included significant volumes of concrete, which have since been overlaid using asphalt systems.

Where vertical joints had not been created in the asphalt, the movement of the old concrete slabs has resulted in surface failures in the asphalt. A full resurfacing programme would be ideal, but wasn’t in the two-year maintenance budget, so an alternative solution was needed.

Case Results

There was clearly movement in the substrate, which caused the asphalt to fail so any repair solution needed to be flexible. The PermaFyx L271 is a durable MMA system that has flexible properties which satisfies this criteria. The deeper sections were filled with a bulked out formulation of 2-6mm and then the area was screeded at a thickness of approximately 3mm to give a full bond across the movement joints. Using the PermaFyx L271 system also ensured a good SRV could be maintained.

The client reported the repair looked extremely neat and noted on the absence of any hot works to make the repair. The fact that this was a cost-effective system that could be applied using on-site maintenance crews, without needing to invest in large specialist equipment, meant the solution satisfied the criteria set out by the client.
